Rekha said she easily identified with the bubbly nature of her character, calling it 'quite a bit me'. Khubsoorat was a success and Rekha was appreciated for her comic timing. It won the Filmfare Award for Best Film and Rekha won her first Best Actress award.

Vijaya Rekha known by her stage name Mounika is an Indian film and Tamil television actress who appeared in South Indian films and Tamil serials.[1] She was the third wife of director Balu Mahendra.[2]

Mounika was living together with Balu Mahendra. Balu Mahendra has confirmed his relationship with Mounika in many of his interviews and also in his blog.[3][4] They married in 1998 but went public about their marriage only in 2004.
